"Gift of Dyslexia" Programmes in Malvern, Worcestershire

Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Dyspraxia and ADD/ADHD

Different people have different ways of thinking and learning. While some bright people do well at school, other bright people find that their style of thinking isn't catered for - and so they struggle.

Dyslexia, ADD, dyspraxia, and maths difficulties (dyscalculia) are usually thought of and defined as lifelong learning difficulties. In law, they are defined as disabilities. The focus is always on what the person can't do, the assumption is that the person will find these skills difficult for the rest of their life, and the emphasis is on strategies that will enable the person to "cope".

Learning Differences, not Learning Difficulties

Typically, people with the so-called "learning difficulties" of dyslexia, dyspraxia, ADD and maths difficulties are unusually talented at other things. Frequently, their talents centre around creative or practical skills. They are often good at visualisation, have vivid imaginations, and learn through "doing".

The Davis® Methods - Tailored Learning for Different Thinkers

The way you think defines the way you learn. When people with the dyslexic/ADD way of thinking are given learning methods that cater for their way of thinking, the things that they used to struggle with quickly become easy.

Ron DavisAt the Blueberry Centre, we specialise in the Davis Methods - a set of programmes designed for different thinkers by a very different thinker. Ronald Davis was born profoundly autistic (Kanner's Syndrome) and was functionally illiterate until the age of 38. Thousands of different thinkers have had their lives transformed by the process that grew out of Ron's own journey from autistic and dyslexic to fluent reader and accomplished author.

Break the myth

Traditionally dyslexia is viewed as a disability and many remedial approaches focus on coping strategies involving drill and repetition.

At The Blueberry Centre, we understand the root cause of dyslexia, dyscalculia and ADD.

We recognise that dyslexia is a form of intelligence, not a disability. Our approach treats dyslexic intelligence with dignity and harnesses it to the process of correcting learning problems.
